Just a reminder to our members who take advantage of shared branching; Be sure to use the proper business name for ESCU (Electric Service Credit Union). Please do not refer to "Nashville Electric Credit Union" or "NES" Credit Union as these are not recognized by employees in other credit unions participating in the shared branch cooperative. Using the proper name will help prevent delays with your transactions.

Unfortunately, this type of crime continues to grow, especially in the banking and financial services industry. A potential "scammer" may attempt to get personal information from you by a phone call or an email. The caller will alert you that your information has been compromised and that they can help protect you from any unauthorized account activity. DO NOT give out information. We will never ask you for your account number, etc. as we already have this on file here at the credit union. If you receive any suspicious call/email regarding your ESCU account, simply hang up and call us directly for assistance.

The Federal Reserve Board created Reg. D which limits the number of electronic transfer/withdrawal transactions from your savings account to six (6) per calendar month. This includes but is not limited to on-line transfers, transfers by phone request, pre-authorized funds transfer to other financial institutions, and overdraft protection transfers. Any account with more than the six allowed transactions will be subject to a fee charged to the account. Call ESCU for more information.
Effective September 1, 2008 all check funds deposited into your share or share draft accounts will have a minimum three day business hold placed on them. Members wishing to have their funds released sooner may contact the credit union to discuss the situation.
One way to avoid the inconvenience a check hold may cause is to sign up for direct deposit. Direct deposit funds are available the day they clear your account. Not signed up for direct deposit? Contact the credit union or your employer to discuss the benefits you can receive.
If you are like many members, you are bombarded with a mailbox full of sales flyers, advertisements and junk mail every day. One way to help clean up your mailbox is to opt for Electronic Statements or E-Statements from Electric Service Credit Union. This eliminates that paper statement you receive each month.
E-Statements are the same statement you would receive in the mail right on your desktop. This makes balancing your statement even easier, especially if you already use a money management program on your computer.
Only receive quarterly statements now? Signing up for E-Statements means you automatically get a monthly statement to make balancing easier.
To sign up for E-Statements, please contact ESCU.
As the US economy continues to be volatile, you probably keep hearing about the future of Social Security. Many people will not be able to support the lifestyle they are accustomed to by depending on Social Security alone.
One way to better prepare yourself for your retirement is to start putting money away now into an Individual Retirement Account or IRA. An IRA is a great way to accumulate tax-advantaged retirement savings. Electric Service Credit Union offers Traditional, Roth and Coverdell Education IRA accounts with no annual maintenance fees.
Already have an IRA? Look over your statement carefully. Most investment planning services charge an annual fee for maintaining your account. The money going toward these fees could be staying in your IRA account with ESCU.
We also offer IRA Certificates of Deposit. Contact the credit union to find out more about our IRA accounts and start planning for your future today.
ESCU welcomes anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or belongs to an organization chartered in Davidson County. That means that your neighbors, co-workers and friends may now be eligible to join the credit union and experience the same great rates and service our members have for years. Visit the credit union office for details on how to become a member and help pass along the benefits!
